Enchong Dee, Ejay Falcon, and Xian Lim have been hailed as the hottest guys of 2009 by Chalk Magazine. In an interview with Chalk Lifestyle Editor Wanggo Gallaga, the sexy young leading men of the hit teleserye Katorse share their feelings on being labeled “hot” and their thoughts about women and relationships.
Enchong has been in showbiz longer than his two comrades. From being a champion swimmer, the young stud from Naga tried out modeling and acting and had been tagged as the next “hunk” to watch. The 21-year-old De La Salle University graduate admitted he pigged out at several birthday parties earlier this year so he failed to watch over his weight. Enchong said he finds his chest as his sexiest spot. “Kahit tumataba na ako, siya na lang ang natitirang presentable,” he explained. Enchong, who is still single, confessed he doesn’t mind being with an older woman—a cougar—a fact he just drops into the conversation like it was an ordinary, everyday thing.
Ejay came into the limelight as a housemate in last year’s Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus where he bagged the title of Teen Big Winner. Since then, many have noted the distinct sex appeal of this half-French lad from Mindoro. But the 18-year-old would rather not let himself be overwhelmed by these praises. “May mga nagsabi [na sexy ako]. But I don’t think about it. Iniiwasan ko rin maging mayabang. Sasabihin ko lang, ‘Thank you.’” Ejay said that aside from showbiz duties, there are still lots of things that he wants to learn, like cooking and other household chores which he doesn’t want to leave solely to his future wife. “I want to learn how to cook so that I don’t end up depending on my wife to do it for me. Gusto ko may alam ako sa buhay ko.”
Xian returned to the Philippines after spending most of his childhood in the US to have a taste of the Filipino life. While finishing the two-year residency requirement so he that can play basketball for the University of the East varsity, he found himself in modeling. But the 19-year-old, who is the tallest among the Katorse boys, said the “hot” label has yet to sink for him. “I have low self-esteem. People have told me to ‘know my status’ but I don’t get that.” Xian further admitted that he feels insecure about his hair. “When my hair is long, I don’t know what to do with it. Kaya ko ginugupitan dahil ‘di ko alam kung ano gagawin ko! Before, kalbo ako, just get up and go. It was easy.”
Next year Enchong and Ejay will join Katorse lead star Erich Gonzales for the new teleserye Tanging Yaman. For his part, Xian will be paired with Megan Young in Rubi.
